The sectarians at E-Sangha finally came back from holiday and deleted my post. These people really are too stupid to understand the Dhamma. Henry suspended me again for alleged "sect-bashing."

Dear Bhante,

Well, at least you were suspended for a good cause. I am now suspended from the E-Sangha for seven days (as though I might ever go back) by Herr Namdrol for threatening him. What an unmonkly thing to do biggrin.gif

Best wishes,

very nice! Thank you venerable!

My old version 1 disc is not working properly and I still cannot get any reply from the Goenka centers about the CSCD 3, so am hampered a bit on pali participation
But once I finally get it I will be using tools like this. As I said in feedback it is good if we post the pali with accents and Velthius so everyone can benefit.

Robert

Dear Robert,

The Thai Pali Tipitaka is now ready to download. The program is split into two parts for ease of updating, and can be downloaded from these two links:

http://yuttadhammo.s...es/ThaiPali.zip
http://yuttadhammo.s...aiPaliPages.zip

Once you have downloaded, unzip the two files in the same place, and they should create the directory "ThaiPali". Open the directory and run index.htm. Works on Firefox and IE 7 Beta 2, and should be cross-platform (ie work on Windows, Mac, Linux, etc)

Also, I can send you a copy of the CSCD 3 if you like; I don't think it is copyrighted.

Best wishes,

Yuttadhammo

Thanks! Very informative.
I will endeavour to get the latest cscd instead.

Dear Robert,

I've converted the Thai Pali Tipitaka into Velthius and created a program which displays it in Unicode. I will post it here as soon as I fix a small problem with the characters. I think it is good to have the Thai version as well as the CSCD to compare the two. I am also working (slowly) on incorporating the Thai Pali Tipitaka into the DPR script.

Best wishes,

Ven. Yuttadhammo,
your comment about CSCD encodings- do you mean that is complicated or not the best method for reading?

Dear Robert,

Neither, but since it requires every reader to have the VRI fonts installed, it is a less than ideal scheme. Also, I am surprised to see anyone typing in it, as it requires inserting symbols that are not found on the keyboard. I can't even figure out how he got the font to display correctly smile.gif

Nina van Gorkom wrote me saying her computer can't read the pali accent marks properly.
She has an Apple mac computer (why, is another question smile.gif tongue.gif ).
Can firefox, Opera or the cscd scripts work with pali and mac?
Robert

Dear Robert,

Since there are many different encodings being used on this site, maybe you could ask Nina which ones she is not able to read? I see that Suan is even using the ones from the CSCD (as you say, "why, is another question"). I seem to remember some of the posts you copied over from other forums not showing correctly, but I can't find them now. I think it had more to do with the actual characters used themselves, rather than the browser in use - I can read both the ūṅīcoḍe and cha””ha saȘg±yana (but cannot figure out how to display it using this text editor), using Firefox 1.5 - I can't imagine Safari having a problem with it, unless one is using an outdated version of the software.

Best wishes,

Yuttadhammo
